Venturing is a youth-run program. Leadership experience in a crew is an essential part of each member's Scouting experience.
Crew Officers: Each Venturing crew is run by a number of crew officers, who are elected by the members of their crews.
* Crew President - The Crew President serves as the youth leader of the crew, he or she is elected by the youth members.
* Vice President - Administration - The administrative vice president is elected by the youth members and is the administrative officer of the crew. He or she leads the recruiting efforts and manages the recognition of the crew.
* Vice President - Program - The program vice president is elected by the youth members and is the administrative officer of the crew and manages the development of a good program, based on meeting the needs of the members.
* Vice President - Communication - The communication vice president is responsible for the crew's website and other communications.
* Crew Secretary - The Crew Secretary serves as the record-keeping youth leader of the crew, he or she is elected by the youth members, and is responsible for attendance records, written correspondence, records, and minutes showing decisions, plans and publicity.
* Crew Treasurer - The Crew Treasurer serves as the youth financial officer of the crew, he or she is elected by the youth members, and is responsible for keeping accurate records of the income and expenditures of the crew's funds.
* Activity Chair - Activity Chairs are appointed by the Crew President for special projects or activities in the six Venturing experience areas: social, service, fitness, outdoor, leadership, and citizenship.
Crew Committee: The Venturing Crew Committee is responsible for conducting the business of the crew, setting policy, and helping the Advisor and Venturers with planned activities. The committee also has the responsibility to provide adults for crew review committees. This is an important responsibility and is one area were help is always needed and appreciated. The committee consists of parent volunteers who fulfill various roles on the committee.
A chartered Venturing crew requires a Chartered Organization Representative, a Committee Chairman, at least two committee members, and an Advisor.
* Chartered Organization Representative: The Chartered Organization Representative (COR) is the direct contact between the unit and the Chartered Organization. This individual is also the organization's contact with the District Committee and the Local Council. The chartered organization representative may become a member of the district committee and is a voting member of the council. If the chartered organization has more than one unit, one representative serves them all. The Chartered Organization Representative appoints the Unit Committee Chair.
* Crew Committee Chairman: Crew Committee Chairman is appointed by the chartered organization and registered as an adult leader of the BSA. The crew committee chairman appoints and supervises the crew committee and crew leaders.
- * Unit Secretary: The unit secretary is appointed by the unit committee chairman to keep minutes and records.
- * Unit Treasurer: The unit treasurer is appointed by the committee chairman to handle troop/team/crew funds, pay bills, maintain accounts, coordinate the annual Friends of Scouting campaign, and supervise fundraising.
- * Crew Consultants: A consultant is a person whose special skill or talent is needed for a crew activity or project. They assist the crew's activity committees in planning activities, and are usually adult recruited on a one-time basis to provide expert help to the crew. Consultants may be members of the chartered organization, parents, other adults in the community, or individuals on or recruited by the crew committee.
Uniformed Adult Leaders: - * Crew Advisor: The Venturing Crew Advisor is the adult responsible for working directly with the Venturers to help them create the program for the crew. The Advisor trains leaders to run the crew by providing direction, coaching, and support.
- * Associate Crew Advisor: A Venturing Crew Associate Advisor is an adult backup leader for the Crew Advisor, and can be male or female, but must be at least 21 years of age.
Every adult leader is expected to be a model of leadership model to the crew and seek opportunities to develop leadership among the officers and members of the crew. Venturing crews have two or more associate advisors:
